Dr Sujata Mohan Rajapurkar selected for the prestigious CNSW International Social Worker Award

Dr. Sujata Mohan Rajapurkar, Medical Social Worker and Transplant Coordinator, MPUH has been selected for the prestigious CNSW (Council of Nephrology Social Workers) International Social Worker Award” by the National Kidney Foundation (NKF), USA. The award is given in recognition of her high level of commitment and many contributions to CNSW. “She has collected $ 2 million US for the benefit of underprivileged kidney patients in India, and has created funds for various categories of diseases so that every patients receive help. The level of support she received for this award from all of her nominating colleagues was overwhelming- we have never seen such support for a nominee for any award”, a communiqué from NKF said.

In his letter of nomination of Mrs Rajapurkar, Dr. William G. Couser, MD, of International Society of Nephrology said that “Mrs Rajapurkar has a vision and dedication to serving the poor in her country that is truly inspirational. Because of her tireless efforts, which greatly exceed her professional responsibilities, she has attained the status of something of an angel in her area of Gujarat, becoming almost a member of the many grateful families she has helped.” Dr. Joel K. Kopple, MD, Professor of Medicine and Public Health, Harbor-UCLA Medical Centre stated that “one has only to spend a few minutes with her to recognize her dynamism, her vitality and her intense and enduring commitment to making life better for her patients and their families. Her energy, coupled with her high intelligence, has enabled her to create innovative programs that have greatly benefited her patients”.

The award will be presented to Mrs Rajapurkar at the CNSW Networking Luncheon on Wednesday, April 27, 2011, during the National Kidney Foundation Clinical Meeting at the MGM Grand hotel in Las Vegas, NV.
